The Making of Transom Shield
Date  of  Completion: November 13, 2005

Initial Sketch

PhotoShop mock-up, updated to show final patterns and colors.

Cutting

A few days into the process, I believe. Slow going, as this was my first large piece.

Cutting

Months later, after moving. Here, everything has been cut except the outside corners.

Leading

Right-hand spiral, just soldered.

Leading

Right-hand spiral once more, zoomed in on the first bevels I ever made. Almost the last, too.

Leading

At about the halfway point, with both the center and right-hand spirals complete.

Leading

A closer shot, to show off the color.

Leading

...and one more, just because it looked so nice.

Curing

After everything has been weather-proofed and polished, and just waiting for the whole mess to dry.

Curing

Despite knowing better, I still dragged this out for an early-morning shot on the porch.

Installed

Just a shot to show the interesting way in which the client installed his new transom.

Installed

Another photo, from the outside. Here, you can properly see the beveled, sandblasted, and iridescent glass. Welcome home!
