Initial Sketch

Final working sketch of piece. You can still see some of the layout lines.

Initial Sketch

Quick PhotoShop mock-up. I'm terrible with watercolors, so bless technology.

Cutting (Day 1)

First day of cutting; all the oranges and yellows done, some of the reds.

Cutting (Day 2)

The rest of the red and iridescent glass cut, as well as the 1/2" blanks for the beveled pieces. Reflective light.

Cutting (Day 2)

Another shot, a little more centered and with transmitted light (backlit)

Leading (Day 3)

45 minutes into it, and actually managed to get the center anchored without too much hassle.

Leading (close-up)

See how many nails it takes to make sure it doesn't move? Luckily, I'm smart enough to solder in situations like this.

Leading (Day 3)

4 hours into it, and only one of five arms complete. Gets faster each time, though.

Leading (Day 4)

Moments after finishing the leading process, about 15 hours later.

Leading (Day 4)

Another shot. Note that all this lead shrapnel is spread across my bed. This is precisely why one needs a workshop.

Soldered (Day 4)

2.5 hours later, the main body has been completely soldered. Now to redraw the border.

Ardagh Scroll (Day 4)

As the pattern was unintentionally ovalized by the printer, a new border had to be drawn.

Stag Totem

This is my totem, which I try to work into all of my larger works. This pattern was a blessing.

Sandblasting (Day 5)

Almost finished. Heres a shot with the finished sandblasting, stained by putty.

Sandblasting (Day 5)

Another shot, just because the light was so interesting.

Finished (Day 6)

After a few more hours and a couple dozen q-tips, the outside glass is back to it's original state.

Finished (Day 6)

About to be wrapped up for presentation at the wedding.

Delivery

Some weeks later, and the client can't stop looking at it. A damned good sign.
